Its Me and the Van

Ok so its probably not a big thing to most of you however I am really excited at being in the paper. Its just a quick feature on why I love my job. I wont bore you with all the reasons just have a quick read of the article here  

The feature is currently live on the Express & Star website and will go to full print as soon as the editor has made room. Like I say I really like the article. Mind you I would say that as I wrote it and I star in it.

We have just been asked to supply liquid hand soap to a new laboratory which has been opened in a East Midlands University.They already have a few spare dispensers from another lab and are looking for us to supply them with the special “cartridges” that fit the dispenser.

The Softcare H4 hand cleaner is anti-bacterial which is an obvious choice for laboratory hand cleansing. This Softcare soap is made by Johnson Diversey  and fits the SoftCare line Soap Dispenser. With 800ml per cartridge you wont be changing them every 5 minutes.

Guest Soaps a Little Story

OK its not the right time of year for guest soap sales however we have seen a huge increase in sales of these little miniature soaps over the last few days! Now I needed to know why I’m just nosey like that. So I called the customers that purchased them. Turns out they are using them for reasons other than for guest amenities!

One of the clients is part of the Camden Council education department that are going to be doing a talk on the importance of keeping your hands clean and how to wash them properly etc. They are doing this in line with the recent TV adverts relating to washing your hands after sneezing etc to stop the spread of viruses thus needing less time of school ill.

They will issue each child at the assemblies their own little soap so there are no excuses!

The other big user is the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. They are running a trial campaign at the Yorkshire County Showground where they will be drawing and painting onto the soaps themselves. I was surprised to hear that felt tips pens actually wrote on the soap quite well.

So there you have it Guest Soaps are not just for Hotels and B&B’s

North of the Border

We have finally cracked it. We have had multitude of internet sales in Scotland. Ok we have a few sales a week in Scotland. However this is no where near as many sales as we have in the Midlands, London and the south east of the UK .

We put the West Midlands sales down to wanting to buy Local and put the London sales down to prices of London suppliers.

The great news is we are really getting ourselves spread around the country with everybody wanting Centerfeeds and Mops being another highly requested product this week.

Another New Local Customer

We had another Internet order from a local customer in Wednesbury West Midlands. We excitedly delivered the products the very next day. The order was reasonably small for a large company(we looked them up on Google) As they had only ordered a few Kentucky mops handles and some MP10!

This isn’t strange as most companies will only buy small for their first order to check out our service. We delivered the goods and managed to speak to the man in charge . The wife then started the ” We would like to supply you with more of our products”  pitch.

I would love to came the reply however we went into administration in October 2008 and there are only 4 of us left here now. They let over 50 workers go in October2008. Its a real shame as it was a nice looking building, with all mod cons such as floodlighting, security cameras, automatic gates etc. It really looked the part.

There are so many companies out there that are finding things difficult at the moment. That is why we are always so glad to see new orders regularly coming through our website and over the phone from word of mouth etc. And always do our best to accommodate people and their needs.

Internet Sales Down

Our internet sales are down over the last few days! It looks like the weather affects everything then even the internet.

With an average of 1 in 5 people not turning up due to the weather this may have nbeen a big factor. Also a lot of schools have been closed and they are a pretty large group of our regular customers. We have many schools on our regulars list a lot of them are within the West Midlands however the rest are from all over the UK and come to us VIA our website www.dwsupplies.com

Centerfeed is looking like best seller

It looks like our centerfeed paper roll is going to be this weeks best seller. The Internet is a great tool. We see so many different “fads” for buying cleaning products. This week we have seen people placing pallet orders of both blue and white centerfeeds as well as small three or four packs at a time.

Which is how the centrfeed has managed to take pride of place as this weeks best seller (so far).

Saying that there is still a day to go so you never know if the centerfeed will be pipped to the post by the 2nd place jumbo toilet roll!

Requests for Samples

Wow is the word I would use. We have been inundated over the last few days for requests for sample!

people have been asking for samples of our eco soap paper hand towels toilet rolls and center feeds to name just a few.

They are from all over the country and not just our usual hot spot of London and the South East. They are from all over the UK and including Swindon, Birmingham & Newcastle. They are some big users too like councils and property managment companies.

Looks like 2009 is going to be a big year for all at dwsupplies.

Getting Help With SEO

Great news I meet up with a guy from National B2B center. They are part of Warwick University and cover the West Midlands area. He will be giving me some expert guidance on updating our website ideas for this blog and some on-line marketing advice too.
