Yes its true there s a lot that goes into the manufacture of te black bag. Well the first thing you need to know is its not all down to the thickness! Yes you can have a thinner grade bag that’s stronger than a much thicker bag. this is down to the blend of the plastic used. So thicker is not always better.
Some cheap bags are made with a lower grade blend so they feel nice and thick to the touch however do not give the performance they should. Also don’t always measure the quality of the bag by the colour. Blacker does not always mean thicker as some manufactures just add more colourant to through you off the scent.
